Bolognese Tradition: Ancient Tradition or Modern Myth?

چکیده

This article discusses the modern interpretation that Bologna produced a distinctive regional martial tradition, based on existence of similar treatises. It examines assumption series fencing masters formed distinct lineage and their practices tradition separate to forms outside Bologna. As case study, it also considers 'Viridario' Giovanni Filoteo Achillini, poem contains instructions use sword an buckler, written in 1504 asks why this apparently unknown treatise was not used by its author promote Bolognese tradition.
